Although the origin of Halloween is quite grim, it has evolved into a day/evening of light-hearted fun. As a child, you got to dress up in costume, trick-or-treat for candy (Oooh Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups!), carve pumpkins, and pretend to be someone you’re not (or wish you were) for a few hours. Let’s be honest, hanging out in your costume and divvying up the candy loot after a long night of trick or treating was the best!
Then you grow up. Halloween parties become all the rage among your circle of friends! You still dress in costume and pretend to be someone you‘re not for one evening (sometimes for a prize). Our choice of costumes may have evolved from princesses, pirates, or super heroes to, well, pirates, super heroes and… Ok, maybe our costumes haven’t evolved all that much, but there have been some pretty creative ones out there recently.
The point is, Halloween bridges the generational gap for children and adults alike. It has become more family friendly and sensational!
Parents, are you excited to share the holiday with your kids? If you’re looking for something fun to do, bring your children to the Yankee Doodle Tap Room on Halloween. Kids under 12 and in costume eat free! Click here for more information.
With Halloween a few days away, how will you celebrate? Best response could win a prize!
