Behind The Red Door: Post-Holiday Healthy Eating

Although losing weight and getting healthy may be a cliché of a New Year’s Resolution, the New Year is a great time to kick start a new diet plan. As an avid nutrition and exercise planner, I love when my friends and family get in the spirit of getting healthy when the New Year rolls around.

Fresh fruits and vegetables are a vital part of eating healthy.

Healthy eating can be boring and hard; and I am one to attest this. The staples of my diet consist of cottage cheese and lettuce: this doesn’t mean it has to be monotonous!

The Yankee Doodle Tap Room offers a variety of healthy and light choices for those who love to eat out and still remain healthy. Kick-starting your day with a healthy and hearty breakfast is the most important diet tip to remember. While most people forget about breakfast, I opt for the Tap Room’s Egg White Omelet: served with broccoli, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions and feta cheese. Order a big glass of ice cold OJ to really get your day going!

Lunch is definitely my favorite meal of the day; I always make sure to eat something that will keep me full through my late afternoon workout. While my lettuce gets boring quickly, I love a spiced up salad! The Apple & Avocado Salad not only satisfies my afternoon sweet tooth with candied walnuts; but it also keep me full and energized throughout the day with sliced apples, baby shrimp, a fun spring mix with red onion and of course: avocado!

Dinner is also a very important staple of the day. Ending the day with a savory, filling meal will not only keep you satisfied throughout the evening; but can also keep you full during the night so you can avoid those midnight freezer binges! The Tap Room offers a delicious Pistachio Salmon; served as a filet encrusted in pistachios with herbed rice pilaf and broccolini.

If you resolved to eat healthy this New Year; drop by the Yankee Doodle Tap Room for a bite to eat and feel good while you are doing it!
