Valentine’s Day

Red roses, box of chocolate and expensive jewelries are the images that pop into my head when I hear people talking about Valentine’s Day.

Of course the holiday for love is a lot more than just mere material things, it’s a chance that comes once a year for admirers to confess their love to the admired, it’s a chance for a young couple to celebrate their new found love for one another and it’s also a chance for a husband to rekindle his love to his wife and relive the younger days when their love was still new and full of unknown excitements.

Although Valentine’s Day has been pegged as a “Hallmark Holiday” the origins of February 14th are sincere. Originally referred to as Saint Valentine’s Day, this day is designated to celebrate romantic love in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. Men would court their women, as to proudly display and honor them.

Modern day celebrations include chocolates, jewelry and heart shaped entities. Valentine’s Day has become a day of flourishes with presents and extravagant meals; for those of us who are so lucky. While many people may shun the idea and tangibility of Valentine’s Day, those who are believers can take to heart the magnitude of this day completely devoted to love.

Valentine’s Day is almost upon us again, what are your plans this year for the one you love?  Whatever you have planned I am sure your loved one is going to love it.  Just remember while we all remember to celebrate our love for one another on this holiday, don’t forget to show your love to each other the other 364 days of the year.

Wishing you happiness and love, happy Valentine’s Day.
